Richard, Elizabeth, and Mary Forehand

Why is such a small section of this blog devoted to three of Cornelius and Elizabeth Forehand’s children?  The short and simple truth is very little information still exists concerning these children.  While it is probable the two female children, Elizabeth and Mary, were married thus being impossible to locate in early census or tax data, we can assume with a high degree of certainty Richard Forehand probably passed away early in life.  Thorough research of land grants, wills, tithable listings, court documents, etc. does not yield even a single piece of evidence of Richard Forehand thus confirming this assumption.  However, there are a few rumors and speculation Richard may have moved to South Carolina.  To date, I have not found any evidence to support this claim.

While not likely, it is certainly possible Richard could’ve married and fathered children.  As if we needed more mystery or another variable in the equation, it would not be out of the realm of possibility to attach some of the early, ‘mystery’ Forehand’s such as Anthony, Josiah, etc. to Richard.  After all, a rumor does exist involving Richard Forehand moving south to the territory of South Carolina.  However, without any real evidence supporting any of these claims, I feel we can conclude that Richard did in fact pass away early in life.

As far as the female children of Cornelius and Elizabeth, there is some weak evidence and speculation that points to Elizabeth Forehand marrying a man with the last name “Hobbs”.  John Hobbs was certainly located in the area and was shown during the 1719 tithable list.  However, as with Richard Forehad, the evidence is simply not there and without it, I can not draw such conclusions.
